A Day of Dreams Realized: HELP Dadaab Students Graduate from Cambridge College!
We are absolutely thrilled to share the joyous news of the recent graduation ceremony for HELP Dadaab students, who successfully earned their diplomas through the distance learning program in partnership with Cambridge College (specifically Cambridge International College). The ceremony, which took place earlier this year right here in the Dadaab Sub-county, was a powerful testament to the transformative power of education and the incredible resilience of these students.
For many of the graduates—a mix of refugees from the camp and local community members in north-eastern Kenya—this moment was a dream come true. They completed demanding diploma courses in fields like business administration, social work, and computer science, all while overcoming significant logistical and personal challenges.
The atmosphere at the graduation was one of overwhelming celebration and profound gratitude.
A Chorus of Thanks
The students’ joy and appreciation were palpable throughout the day. Graduates repeatedly expressed their heartfelt thanks for the opportunity that has fundamentally changed the course of their lives.
Here’s what the graduation signifies and why the students were so incredibly grateful:
- Breaking the Cycle: For many, this diploma is a crucial first step in breaking the cycle of poverty and dependency. They have been equipped with internationally respected qualifications that will open doors to employment.
- New Hope for the Future: The graduates shared their aspirations to use their new skills to contribute positively to their families and communities. Many plan to start their own businesses, while others are pursuing further studies or seeking roles with NGOs and charities. They now possess the knowledge and confidence to build a brighter future.
- The Power of Partnership: The students were immensely thankful for the support from HELP Dadaab and their partner organizations AWET , who sponsored the distance learning program. They recognized that without this support, pursuing higher education would have been impossible. They extended a deep sense of gratitude to Cambridge College for their partnership and commitment to accessible education.
This graduation is more than just a ceremony; it is a declaration that even in the face of adversity, dedication and the gift of education can lead to extraordinary achievement. We are so proud of every graduate and look forward to witnessing the positive difference they will make in the world.
Congratulations to the Graduating Class of early 2025! Your success is an inspiration to us all.
